CLAY PRODUCTS
Clay based natural building materials such as clay plasters, clay boards/panels and earth blocks have common characteristics; they all store heat and moisture then release equally and slowly to the interior. Though the indoor humidity stays in ideal balance. Natural clay building products protect the building from damp, mold, allergen formation. Plus these building materials, thanks to their heat storage capacity, help keep interior cool in summer and warm in winter.

CLAY PANELS
Okil, is the representative of Lemix® Clay Panel brand in Turkey since 2019. Clay panels support human an environment health thanks to their nature and performances improving indoor climate and ensuring energy efficiency of the buildings. Plus they can be integrated to several building types in a practical way.
CONTENT & BENEFITS
Lemix® Clay panels are made of natural, locally sources raw materials. They are sustainable as they are compostable and 100% recyclable. With the precision and quality of the first industrially produced clay panel (often also referred to as “clay building slab”) Lemix® is a modern clay panel for interior construction and can be used in the same way as conventional plasterboard. These panels are capable to store heat in winter, protects from heat in summer. So they support energy efficiency of the building.
HOW & WHERE TO USE
Lemix® clay panels are ideal dry construction solutions for interior construction in timber and masonry houses and for the renovation (also of listed half-timbered houses, for example), they ensure shorter assembly times by reducing the need for complex leveling layers or delicate bonding points. The panels can be used easily for bathrooms and kitchens with the condition to be kept behind ceramic or marble cover or being sprayed.
The moisture content of clay is very low around 0.4 to 6 %. So it also affects the adjoint materials. If the other organic materials like wood are surrounded with clay/earth, they are purified from moisture and stay dry. There is no risk of mold formation or infestation.
NEEDS FOR CUTTING & FIXINGS
Lemix® clay panels (previously referred to as “clay building slabs”, by the way) can be easily cut and shaped to size. Using a jigsaw or a portable circular saw or also using an angle grinder and suction hood. Clay panels are always arranged in a bonding pattern with an offset.
Even with electrical/HVAC installations there are no big differences, they can be placed behind the clay panels as usual. For holes, as are required for cavity sockets, you use a compass saw. For attachment of light-weight objects, the use of cavity dowels is recommended. For heavier objects, such as kitchen cabinets, substructures are required. As is usually the case in drywall construction.
Lemix ® CLAY PANEL CHARACTERISTICS & MEASURES
Lemix is the first clay panel certified according ® to natureplus and meets all the technical requirements of the LEHM e.V. ® umbrella association. Lemix of course also complies with the recently published DIN 18948 for clay boards. The ideal natural construction material for ecological drywall construction.
Lemix® clay panel standard measure is 62cm x 125cm, there are two thickness option: 22mm and 16mm. The area one panel cover is: 0,781 m2 / panel
16mm thick panel weighs 18 kg, 22mm thick panel weighs 25 kg . Weight / M2 for 16mm thick panel is 23 kg, for 22mm thick panel is: 32 kg’dır.
surface hardness : ≤ 15 mm, bending tensile strength: ≥ 0,8 N/mm² , surface tensile strength: ≥ 0,1 N/mm²
thermal conductivity: λ = 0,353 W/mK, Specific heat capacity : C p approx 1,1 J/kgK
Bulk density: 1450 kg/m3 and a1 (non flammable) according to DIN EN 13501-1:2010-01

fastening and attachment: gluing, stapling, screwig. Fixing material: Disc head screws, corrosion-protected (phosphatic) screws with retaining plates, broad back staples
the test made according to European Union Standard (DIN EN ISO 10140-2) showed that when 11cm wall is constructed with a wooden frame and 22mm clay panels are used on both face of the wall with 6cm inner whole was insulated, the sound insulation of LEMIX® clay panels have a value of 51 dB. Drywalls have lower values according to similar tests. 11.5 cm thick brick walls (with density: 1.0 kg / dm3 ) have 45 dB sound insulation value.
EARTH BLOCKS
Earth block is produced from past to present with a mix of clay soil and straw by pressing in a mold and dried under the sun. Earth blocks can be procured without using artificial heat or energy and they are not going under a chemical reaction. So their embedded energy and carbon footprint are very low, they can be %100 recyclable and biodegradable. Plus by means of their natural clay content earth blocks affects positively the indoor air quality and they have high level heat storage capacity.
EARTH BLOCKS’ CHARACTERISTICS & IMPLEMENTATIONS
Clay soil and straw are mixed with water and this mix is poured to the mold. When this mix is dried under the sun, it is removed from the mold. The content of straw increases the stability and heat insulation capacity of the earthen block.
